Mission and Vision


MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of the Rawlings Youth Girls Softball League to promote competitive girls fast pitch softball thru the use of experienced and developmental leagues; To provide young girls of all ages in the Pueblo region with experienced and trained coaching staffs dedicated to teaching the techniques and theories of competitive fast pitch softball; To provide them with official softball fields, league officials, trained umpires and scheduled league play; To maintain a governing board experienced and dedicated to the promotion of girls athletics and with that the willingness to maintain the ethical standards required to keep the interest of the girls and the league first. 

VISION

 To provide the opportunity for all girls, regardless of social, economic or family status, to be involved in an organized, competitive activity, which will enhance self-esteem, individual and family values, while developing positive role models for the future generations.

GOALS

I. To provide girls of all ages the opportunity for involvement/participation in an organized softball program.

A. Provide information to coaches, players, schools, and parks & recreation department, detailing schedules, deadlines, and other Rawlings Youth Girls Softball League activities. (2/28/02)

B. Provide community notification of schedules, deadlines, and other activities, utilizing local media venues. (2/28/02 to 05/01/02)

C. Minimize participant's financial responsibilities through the utilization of community resources. (05/01/03).

II. Develop and enhance coaches and players skills.

A. Provide skill enhancement seminars/clinics for coaches and players in cooperation with the USC Athletic Department and other established resources. (05/01/03)

B. Organize a resource pool to provide for specialized assistance in skill development. (05/01/03)

III. Create a safe environment for players, coaches, officials and spectators.

A. Ensure optimal playing conditions through cooperation with USC by inspecting fields, maintaining a list of upgrade needs, and by meeting weekly with USC staff to address concerns. (05/30/02)

B. Ensure background information is completed on all coaching staff and league officials. (Ongoing)

C. Develop and implement standards for appropriate player, coach, and spectator conduct. (05/15/02)

D. Provide supplementary insurance policy for players during the official league season. (Annually)

E. Maintain qualified officiating staff. (Annually)

IV. Develop and implement plans and programs that promote community involvement, self-esteem, responsibility and positive citizenship through involvement with Rawlings Youth Girls Softball League.

A. Develop relationships with civic leaders, educational institutions, and community organizations, ensuring growth and development of the Rawlings Youth Girls Softball League. (Ongoing)

B. In cooperation with the local business community, governmental agencies, and educational institutions, develop and implement a higher education scholarship program for Rawlings Youth Girls Softball League participants. (05/30/03)

C. Create a mentoring program utilizing local athletic program. (Ongoing)

D. Continue and improve media coverage. (Ongoing)

V. Create and implement a means of securing financial resources ensuring the continued growth and stability of Rawlings Youth Girls Softball League.

A. Seek and obtain available grant money to defer and minimize the cost of player participation. (Annually)

B. Pursue corporate sponsorship requesting in-kind as well as monetary contributions. (Ongoing)

C. Develop an annual budget process ensuring fiscal responsibility to stake holders. (05/30/02)
